WHAT IS THAI CUISINE?
From barbeque to stir-fried, curries to spicy salads, soups to steamed foods, and oatmeal to crispy insects, Thai cuisine spans a wide spectrum of genres. Thai food has a sour, sweet, salty, and savory flavor profile, as well as heat from chilis.
Coconut milk lends a velvety texture to several foods. These flavors are meticulously combined to achieve the ideal balance for serving every flavour your taste senses can detect.

In terms of cuisine, Thailand is diverse (and the people from different regions differ quite a lot too). Regional disparities exist in Thailand, as they do in other nations, with the Northern Thais having a very different culture than the Southern Thais.
WHAT DOES THAI CUISINE ENTAIL?

Thai cuisine covers every variety of food mixed from each of the regional types of cookery, as well as the Royal Thai cuisine popularized by dishes invented by royal chefs.
Thailand features seven unique Thai cuisines, the majority of which are regional in origin. Northern Thailand (Lanna), North-Eastern Thailand (Isaan), Eastern Thailand, Central Plain Thailand, Bangkok, and Southern Thailand. Then there’s Royal Thai cuisine, which is responsible for many coconut milk-based recipes and will be discussed more in this article.

When these regional cuisines are combined, they are commonly referred to as “Thai Food.”

Assuming we have some fundamental knowledge of the food eaten in a certain geographic location, such as, we will have an intuitive understanding of the essence of that cuisine. Even while every cuisine has aspects from different cuisines, it is the interplay and balance of the total that distinguishes a cuisine.

Taking that concept a step further, we have regional cuisines as well as cultural cuisines that are included. For example, in Phuket, there are many individuals who eat vegetarian or “Jae” food, and there is even a festival dedicated to it. As a result, the island boasts a unique vegetarian cuisine.

From an international viewpoint, Thai food is Thai cuisine, yet inside Thailand, the definition of Thai food varies depending on your region and the local cuisine at the time of conversation.

People from all around Thailand and beyond have flocked to Bangkok and its environs, drawn by the city’s success.
This gives Bangkok its unique identity, and Bangkok residents have developed a haughtiness as a result of their attempts to set themselves apart through time.

THE ORIGINS OF THAI CULTURE IN NORTHERN THAILAND
The Lanna Thai, a federation of tribes and monarchs, may be the original origins of Thai people.

The people moved south to Sukhothai, now known as Ayuthaya, where they consolidated under a single king – King Sri Indraitya in the mid-13th century – and formed a dynasty that lasted until the mid-18th century.

The Thonburi dynasty was succeeded by Taksin the Great, who reigned for barely 14 years until Sukhothai was overrun by invaders. He was a politician and a warrior who built infrastructure, encouraged education, art, and culture, cultivated international connections, and restored temples.

The Chakri dynasty – the present monarchy – replaced King Thaksin the Great and transferred the capital to Bangkok, where it resides today.
